Publication Ethics

                 The Journal of Disease and Health Hazards, Eastern Region, Thailand is established to disseminate academic knowledge and scholarly articles related to the surveillance, prevention, and control of diseases and health hazards. Its scope includes communicable diseases, non-communicable diseases, occupational diseases, and environmental health, with an emphasis on surveillance, prevention, and control of diseases and health hazards. The journal serves as a platform for sharing knowledge with medical and public health agencies as well as interested readers.

 

Roles and Responsibilities of Authors

1.Authors must not submit manuscripts or articles that have been previously published elsewhere, nor submit duplicate manuscripts to other academic journals. After publication in the Journal of Disease and Health Hazards, Eastern Region, Thailand, authors must not publish the same work in other outlets.

2.Authors must disclose sources of research funding (if any) and declare any conflicts of interest (if any).

3.All listed authors must have made a genuine contribution to the work, including conceptualization, study/research design, implementation, and analysis and interpretation of results leading to the manuscript.

4.Authors must not plagiarize or copy others’ work and must properly cite all sources whenever others’ work is presented or referenced in the manuscript.

5.Authors must properly acknowledge and cite all materials, images, or tables used in their manuscript and clearly state permissions in the “Source” section to prevent copyright infringement. In the event of any legal claims, the responsibility rests solely with the author(s); the journal bears no liability.

6.Authors must not report inaccurate information, including fabrication, falsification, distortion, manipulation, or selective reporting of data to support predetermined conclusions.

7.When acknowledging contributors in the acknowledgements section, authors should obtain prior consent from those they wish to acknowledge whenever possible.

8.For manuscripts involving research on human subjects, authors must provide evidence that the research protocol has been approved by an appropriate research ethics committee.

Roles and Responsibilities of Reviewers

1.Reviewers must prioritize the quality of the manuscript and evaluate it based on academic principles and rationale, free from bias, personal opinions, or conflicts of interest with any author. If reviewers recognize a potential conflict of interest that prevents independent judgment, they should inform the editor and decline the review.

2.Reviewers must not seek personal benefit from the academic work they review, nor use any part of the manuscript for their own work.

3.Reviewers should possess expertise in the relevant field and assess the manuscript’s significance to the discipline, the quality of analysis, and the rigor of the work. They should identify key and relevant research and avoid using unsupported personal opinions as evaluation criteria.

4.If reviewers identify any similarity or overlap between the manuscript and other works, they must promptly notify the editor.

5.Reviewers must adhere to the review timelines specified by the journal.

6.Reviewers must maintain confidentiality and must not disclose any information about manuscripts under review to unauthorized individuals during the review process.

 

Roles and Responsibilities of the Editorial Board

1.The editor is responsible for assessing the completeness, format, and quality of manuscripts prior to initiating the peer-review process.

2.The editor conducts an initial evaluation to determine whether manuscripts should enter the publication process and decides on publication after peer review.

3.The editor must not alter the content of manuscripts or the reviewers’ evaluations.

4.The editor must check for plagiarism; if plagiarism is detected, the review process must be halted immediately and the author contacted for clarification.

5.The editor must maintain the confidentiality of authors’ and reviewers’ identities.

6.The editor must not reject manuscripts based solely on suspicion or uncertainty.

7.The editor must evaluate manuscripts based on academic merit without bias regarding race, gender, religion, political views, or authors’ affiliations.

8.The editor must have no conflicts of interest with authors or reviewers.

9.The editor must strictly adhere to the journal’s processes and procedures.

10.The editor must uphold the journal’s standards and continuously develop the journal to reflect new knowledge and maintain currency and quality.

11.The editor issues a publication acceptance certificate to authors only after all required revisions have been satisfactorily completed.
