Factors Affecting Oral Health Care Behaviors of Self-Reliant Elderly in the Area of Noen Saen Suk Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital Mueang Sa Kaeo District, Sa Kaeo Province

Abstract
This study aimed to: (1) examine oral health care behaviors among self-reliant elderly individuals; (2) assess health belief patterns regarding oral health care; (3) investigate social support related to oral health care; and (4) determine the relationships between health belief patterns, social support, and oral health care behaviors among self-reliant elderly in the service area of Noen Saen Suk Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, Mueang Sa Kaeo District, Sa Kaeo Province.
The study was based on the Health Belief Model and Social Support Theory. A total of 266 self-reliant elderly participants were selected through systematic random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire with an Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) of 0.91 and an overall reliability coefficient (Cronbach’s alpha) of 0.954. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation) and Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient.
The findings revealed that: (1) oral health care behaviors were at a high level; (2) health belief patterns were at a high level; (3) social support was at a high level; and (4) both health belief patterns and social support were significantly associated with oral health care behaviors at the .01 level.
