Development of A Service Model to Prevent Premature Birth in Pregnant Women at Borabue Hospital

Abstract

The research and development aims to 1) study the problem of premature birth, 2) develop a service model to prevent premature birth, and 3) evaluate the result of developing a service model to prevent premature birth in pregnant women who received prenatal care at Borabue Hospital according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, totaling 50 people such as new pregnancy woman, those who register for antenatal care before 12 weeks of gestation and those at risk of premature birth. The research instruments used were group discussions, knowledge and behavior measurement form to premature birth, and satisfaction form. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics.
Results of the development: The development of the service model for preventing premature birth in pregnant women at Borabue Hospital consisted of screening, providing knowledge, monitoring, proactive follow-up visits, planning for discharge in the delivery room, and post- discharge follow-up. It was found that the rate of premature labor decreased from 30% to 14%, readmission decreased from 53.33% to 14.28%, and full-term delivery increased from 88% to 100%. The knowledge and behavior scores for preventing premature birth after providing knowledge increased significantly with a statistical p-value of <0.001. The satisfaction of pregnant women and the multidisciplinary team with the service model for preventing premature birth was at a high level.
Recommendations: The results of the model development should be studied continuously, and the research results should be expanded to network hospitals so that the model for premature birth prevention services can be systematically implemented.
