The Development of Personnel Team Competency to Provide Nursing Care for Schizophrenia Patients with Violence Behavior at Chaiyaphum Hospital

Abstract

The research is developmental research to develop the competence of the personnel team in the care of schizophrenia patients with violent behavior in Psychiatric and drug wards at Chaiyaphum Hospital. The samples of the study were 18 persons who had been working in Psychiatric and drug wards in Chaiyaphum Hospital and schizophrenia patients with violent behavior admitted during the period from October 1, 2022, to December 30, 2022. Data were analyzed according to statistical methods. By the program, Statistics include Frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Paired simple t-test.

The results showed 1. The general characteristic of the target group were most of the men 53.33%, mean age of 34.33 years (S.D. = 7.48) Most of them graduated with a bachelor's degree or equivalent 66.67%, and nurses 53.33 %. The average working experience was 3.33 years (S.D. = 1.95) and everyone was not trained in capacity development 100 % 2.The knowledge of violent behavior in schizophrenia patients and personnel management found that the mean score before training was 14.26 (S.D. = 0.85) and the mean score after training was 18.73 (S.D.=1.18 ).The training showed that the average knowledge score after training increased significantly. 3. In skill showed that the personnel team had skill in managing the patients with violent behavior. By tactics to prevent and manage violent behavior and emotion based on the severity of violence. Using skills to care for patients with severe behavior levels is as follows. 3.1) The personnel team uses prevention tactics in patients with violent behavior and mood level 1 By teaching skills to control violent behavior and emotion and nursing care according to the treatment plan. Protect violent behavior. 3.2) The personnel team uses prevention tactics in patients with violent behavior and mood level 2 By Communication skills, patient isolation in behavior restriction room and in patients with severe behavior and mood level 3 the personnel team uses restricting behavior by binding at a patient bed and injecting a drug for symptom control. 4. The 30 patients with violent behavior were enrolled. Most patients (46.67 %) were physical attack behavior (men 30 % and women 16.67 %). The verbal violent behavior were 26.67 % (men 10 % and women 16.67 %) Research indicates that education in caring for psychiatric patients by group process and teamwork results in confident personnel whom a person can manage problem patients to safety patients and the personnel team.
