Developing a Model for Participatory Care for Dependent Elderly People in the Borabue Subdistrict Community, Borabue District, Mahasarakham Province

Abstract

The changes in the structure of the world's population that people are born less and live longer Make the average population of the world live longer. This research is action research. The objective is to develop a model for participatory care for dependent elderly people and the results of developing a model for participatory care for dependent elderly people in the community of Borabue Subdistrict, Borabue District, Mahasarakham Province.

The participants used in this research were divided into 2 groups: a group of 86 dependent elderly people and a group of people involved in caring for dependent elderly people by purposive selection. Number of people: 65 peopleThe research is divided into four phases: planning, practice observers and reflect. Analysis of data using frequency, percentage and inferential statistics including Paired t- test at a significance level of 0.05. Analysis qualitative data using content Analysis.

The research results found that Developing a model for participatory care for dependent elderly people in the community in Borabue Subdistrict, Borabue District, Maha sarakham Province, consisting of: Creating a joint project plan to solve problems using shared resources of all agencies in the area. Summary of development issues according to the issues and context of the area. Planning to solve problems. Creating a network of caregivers for the elderly. Training to provide knowledge to caregivers of the elderly. Elderly caregivers write visiting plans and follow up on visits to homebound and bedridden elderly. Review of the operation of care for the dependent elderly. The mentor team provides supervision, monitoring and evaluation of operations. Organizing a forum for exchanging knowledge, summarizing the results of operations, extracting lessons, and evaluating the results.Comparison of quality of life in the elderly found that after the operation is different from before the operation statistically significant at the 0.05 level. The comparison of participant participation after operation was significantly different at the 0.05 level.
