Doxycycline Induced Esophageal Ulcer : a Case Report and Literature Review

Abstract
Doxycycline is one of the common drugs which can cause esophagitis and ulcer. Common symptoms are odynophagia, retrosternal pain, an or dysphagia. Aim of this paper is to report one case esophageal ulcer presumbably induced by doxycycline. The case was young Thai woman with complaint of painful swallowng 5 days and 1 day after doxycycline ingestion. Her painful swallowing and vomiting were not improved with symptomatic treatment. Physical examination and basic laboratory investigations were nomal. Upper GI endoscopy revealed acute ulcer at middle part of esophagus. Final diagnosis was Doxycycline-induced esophageal ulcer.
