The New Surgical Technique Compared to Longo’s Technique in Stapled Hemorrhidectomy

Abstract
Introduction: Hemorrhoid is a common disease. Longo A described circular stapled hemorrhoidectomy in 1993.
Objective: To compare the operative time of the new surgical technique for stapled with Longo A hemorrhoidectomy in outpatient under local anesthesia.
Materials and methods: We prospective studied patients with hemorrhoids,who had undergone the new surgical technique for stapled, and compare the outcomes with Longo A technique. Statistical analysis was performed using mean, %, 95% CI , Chi–square analysis with Yates correction or Fisher,s exact test as appropriate, unpaired t–test (two tails).
Results: The operative used by the new surgical technique for stapled technique was less than Longo A (10 vs 16 minutes) (P < 0.001).
Conclusion: Stapled hemorrhoidectomy under local anesthesia by the new surgical technique required less time than by Longo A. This technique should be the treatment of choice for stapled hemorrhiodectomy.
