Prefabricated Stainless Steel Crown: an Alternative Dental Treatment in Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital

Abstract: Patients who have already had root canal treatment in permanent molar teeth, or patient with severe attrition or large caries cavity extention that cannot be restored by simple or special operative procedure, need a permanent crown for prosthetic treatment. Unfortunately, the waiting list for prosthetic treatment at the Department of Dental Service, Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital requires 2-3 years. Therefore, prefabricated stainless steel crown is an alternative treatment for these patients. In this study we reported the treatment with the prefabricated stainless steel crown in 19 patients. Follow ups revealed normal in 14 cases (77.8%), retreatment required in 1 case (5.3%) and called for permanent crown in 4 cases (16.9%).
