Clinical Assesment of Uterine Curettage in Women with Abnormal Uterine Bleeding at Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital

Abstract

The result of retrospective study reviewing 797 medical records of women who underwent uterine curettage due to abnormal uterine bleeding during October 1993 to September 1994 at Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital was presented. The rate of endometrial carcinoma was 2.76 percent (22 cases). The highest rate (50.31%) of indications was menomerorrhagia and endometrial carcinoma was found 14 cases in 22 cases of this study. Among 22 patients of endometrial carcinoma, nine were aged 50 or more and five were aged 45 to 49. For patients with adenomatous hyperplasia was found highest rate in patients of menometrorrhagia indication too and the age was 40 or more


            Complication from the curettage highest complication was found 3.76 percent but these were not severe. The highest complication was infection (endometritis). The other complications were nausea, vomiting, vertigo and drug allergy (Xylocaine). There was 1 case of suspected uterine perforation.
