ลักษณะอุลตราซาวน์ดของฝีในตับจากเชื้ออะมีบิคและแบคทีเรีย (Sonographic findings in hepatic amebic and bacterial abscess)

Abstract

Sonograms of 116 cases of liver abscess were analyzed retrospectively and prospectively with 68 cases of amebic abscess and 48 cases of bacterial abscess at Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima hospital. Sonographic morphology of abscess were studied and founded that were inadequate in distinquishing pyogenic abscess from amebic abscess. However some our ultrasonogram findings suggest bacterial or amebic abscess. If size of lesion is less than 5 cm. and multiple lesion, we suggest bacterial abscess. (ODDS=3.5, p<0.05) And lesion is adjacent capsule, we suggest amebic abscess. (ODDS=3.8, p<0.05) These difference are not sufficient to allow a specific diagnosis on basic of sonographic alone. Sonography can expedite abscess detection and, when coupled with clinical and laboratory data, can aid in differentiating pyogenic from amebic abscess. And also we studied repleted ultrasound for abscesses after medical treatment, 34 cases. We founded that sonographic morphology of abscesses were correlated to duration of illness.
