Retinopathy of Prematurity at Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital

Abstract
One thousand seven hundred and fourty-eight premature infants whose birth weight less than 2200 grams were born at Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital. One hundred and fifthteen premature infants were examined for retinopathy of prematurity during January 1991 - December 1995. ROP could be detected in eighty - seven (87/115, 75%). The factors that related to ROP were infants who needed oxygen therapy more than 5 days or infants with pneumonia who needed prolong oxygen therapy. ROP were regressed in 60 percents patients. The appropriate time for first eye examination was around 4 - 6 weeks of age.
