Abstract
This prospective study has the objective to analysis 296 patients with head and neck cancer in Department of Otolaryngology, Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital from 1992-1994 , male 201 cases (67.9%), female 95 cases (32.1%),17-89 years old , mean 58 years old over 90% of the patients were older than 45 years old. All of them were Thai population, most of them work as agriculture , education and have risk factors (alcohol , tobacco, smoking , betel chewing), no family history about cancer. Pathology reports as Squamous cell carcinoma 69.6% , undifferentiated carcinoma 16.9%. Most common site was oral cavity (19.3%), second most common site was oropharynx 16.0% . Most of the patients came to hospital in stage 3-4 . Treatments were radiotherapy 51.9 % , surgery 16.9% and combined surgery with radiotherapy 16.2% .
