Factors related to self-protection from Coronavirus Disease 2019 among secondary school students in Health Zone 8, Udon Thani

The objective of this research was to study the knowledge, attitude, and self-protection behavior from Coronavirus Disease 2019. The correlation of knowledge, attitude, and self-protection behavior from Coronavirus Disease 2019 of high school students in health zone 8 was investigated. The sample was high school students in health zone 8. A sample of 461 students who study during March to December, 2022. The data was collected using an online questionnaire, which consists of 6 parts; personal information, measurement forms of knowledge, risk perception of disease, severity perception of disease, self-protection attitude, and self-protection behavior. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlation of variables which include the Chi- square and Pearson's correlation coefficient.
The results of this research revealed that the knowledge, risk perception, attitude, and behavior were at a high level. Whereas, the perceived severity of Coronavirus Disease 2019 was moderate. The factors related to prevention behavior against Coronavirus Disease 2019 were personal and knowledge. Otherwise, the attitude of self-prevention was not statistically correlated with the Coronavirus Disease 2019 prevention behavior. The suggestion of this research, the quantitative research should be included to identify cause, subsequent symptoms of disease, promoting of prevention behavior, and develop the promoting program on prevention from Coronavirus Disease 2019. In addition, the service center should promote knowledge and behavior in preventing disease through multiple channels for groups independent of the educational system to effectively prevent the disease pandemic.
