Factors Related to Elderly Health Promotion Practice among Village Health Volunteers Nong Makha Mong Subdistrict, Dan Chang District, Suphan Buri Province

Abstract

This study is survey research aimed at examining factors related to elderly health promotion practice among village health volunteers Nong Makha Mong Subdistrict, Dan Chang  District, Suphan Buri Province. The sample group in this study consisted of 194 village health volunteers (VHVs) from Nong Makha Mong Subdistrict, Dan Chang district, Suphan Buri province. The researcher used a cluster sampling method to select the participants and collected data through questionnaires. The questionnaire was validated for content accuracy by three experts to ensure completeness and correctness of the content. General data analysis was conducted using various statistical methods, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Additionally, chi-square and Pearson’s correlation coefficient statistics were used to analyze the relationships between variables.

The results showed that the overall level of health promotion activities for the elderly among the sample was high, accounting for 66.49%. The overall level of work motivation was also high, at 85.05%, and social support was similarly high at 87.11%. Factors significantly associated with promotion practice among village health volunteers included age and marital status, with statistical significance at p<0.05. Work motivation (r=0.47) and social support (r=0.59) were moderately and positively correlated with health promotion activities for the elderly, with statistical significance at p<0.05. Therefore, enhancing the capacity of village health volunteers in elderly health promotion should focus on fostering motivation and increasing social support.
