Abstract

This study aims to investigate the production process of drama series that generate carbon footprints, assess greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and propose guidelines for reducing GHG emissions in the entertainment industry. A mixed-methods research approach was employed. Quantitative data were collected from production activities and financial documents to calculate GHG emissions in accordance with the Carbon Footprint of Organizations (CFO) standards. Additionally, questionnaires and interviews were conducted with 21 executives and related personnel. The research instruments were validated for content validity with an Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) of 1.00, and demonstrated reliability with Cronbach’s alpha coefficients of 0.76 and 0.83 for the questionnaires and interviews, respectively. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as percentage, mean, and standard deviation (S.D.), along with content analysis.

The results revealed that the primary source of GHG emissions was Scope 1 activities, specifically vehicle fuel and power generators (47.01%), followed by Scope 3 activities involving set construction materials (39.43%), and Scope 2 activities from electricity consumption (13.56%). Furthermore, the sample group exhibited a high level of awareness regarding GHG reduction as a crucial strategy for enhancing international competitiveness, yet lacked practical understanding and knowledge of carbon credit mechanisms. The most viable practical measures were cost-effective and involved immediate behavioral changes, such as using LED lighting and circular material management. Conversely, capital-intensive measures like solar cell systems and electric vehicles remained at a moderate level of implementation due to budget and infrastructure constraints. Additionally, the researcher proposes policy recommendations for the government to support tax incentives, link sustainability criteria with refund policies, and develop a database of eco-friendly suppliers to achieve the Net Zero target.
