A CASE STUDY OF THE MEETING OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO CONSIDER THE EXPENDITURE BUDGET BILL FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2024

Abstract

This article mentions the role of data and information which are crucial elements in the operation of organizations at the local, national, and international levels. Data needs to be processed, analyzed, and structured to become suitable information, allowing the recipient to see the overview and insight of various issues. Members of the House of Representatives and the Senate are obliged to consider the bill together to accept or reject the bill. Therefore, it is necessary to use information related to budget allocation as an essential part of the annual expenditure budget bill consideration. The House of Representatives convened to consider the expenditure budget bill for the fiscal year 2024, scheduled for January 3-5, 2024. Members of the House of Representatives belonging to the opposition party have the main duty to examine and discuss budget allocations to determine whether they are following the policies that the government has announced at the parliamentary meeting or not. Move Forward Party, as the mainstay of the opposition party, has a process of transforming data into information for discussion. This process includes Step 1: data selection or cleanup, with only sensitive data imported into the data analysis program selected. Step 2: Using data analysis tools, such as Microsoft Excel. Step 3: Transforming data into ready-to-use information by organizing, grouping, screening, and analyzing such data according to assigned issues and presenting them as infographics. Step 4: Using information in planning and decision-making, suggesting recommendations to the Cabinet on amendments to the Annual Expenditure Budget Bill. Step 5: Review and improve the information. An overview of the Expenditure Budget Bill for the fiscal year 2024 was presented at the end of the meeting.
