The effects of competencies promotion program for triaging fast tract disease groups on knowledge and perceived self-efficacy of nurses, 19th Somdet Phra Sangkharat Hospital

Abstract

        The objectives of this quasi - experimental research one groups pre-posttest design article was to study the effective of the program of promotion competencies on knowledge and perceived self-efficacy of nurses of 19^th Somdet Phra Sangkharat Hospital. The sample was 32 nurses by purposive sampling. The research instruments used in this study consisted of the personal data questionnaire, test, and self-efficacy questionnaire. The content validity by Index Item Objective Congruence was 0.67–1.0 and Livingston on knowledge was .60, the Cronbach’s alpha coefficients of perceived self-efficacy questionnaire was .98. Data were analyzed using frequency percentage, mean, standard deviation, and paired t-test.

        The results showed that: the program of promotion competencies of nurses of 19^th Somdet Phra Sangkharat Hospital consisted of 1) media lectures 2) exchanging experiences in sorting patient types and 3) patient triage workshop. The effective of the program of promotion competencies on knowledge and perceived self-efficacy of nurses of 19^th Somdet Phra Sangkharat Hospital show that after joining the program, the nurses had significantly higher mean knowledge scores than before joining the program (p<0.05) and they had significantly higher mean perceived self-efficacy score than before joining the program (p<0.05).
